The University of Minnesota is a land-grant institution established in 1851. Its flagship campus is located in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul), and there are four coordinate campuses in Crookston, Duluth, Morris, and Rochester. The University of Minnesota is dedicated to the advancement of learning and the search for truth; to the sharing of this knowledge through education for a diverse commuity; and to the application of this knowledge to benefit the people of the state, the nation, and the world. As one of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks, the Minneapolis Fed carries out a variety of Federal Reserve System functions, including operating a nationwide payments system, distributing the nation's currency and coin, supervising and regulating member banks and bank holding companies, and serving as a banker for the U.S. Treasury. Each Federal Reserve Bank conducts research on a variety of finance and economic issues, including research on economic growth and human capital.
Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs
The Hubert H. Humphrey Institute ranks among the top professional schools of public affairs at public universities in the country. The Institute is widely recognized for its role in examining public issues and shaping public policy at the local, state, national, and international levels, and for providing leadership and management expertise to public and nonprofit organizations. The Institute offers degrees in public policy, urban and regional planning, public affairs, applied economics, and science, technology and environment policy.
Institute for Child Development, University of Minnesota
The Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota is a premier center of scholarship, teaching, and outreach devoted to the understanding and fostering of child development. Coursework and research activities focus primarily on the cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological processes that underlie life-course development. From its inception, a key tenet of the department has been to “give away” child psychology. This philosophy has created an environment rich with collaborations, new ideas, and interdisciplinary work.
Center for Early Education and Development, University of Minnesota
The Center for Early Education and Development (CEED) at the University of Minnesota has spent over 30 years helping children from infancy through age 8 to learn and develop to the best of their abilities. CEED strives to effect positive change in early education, child care, and public policy. CEED's mission is to improve developmental outcomes for children through applied research, training, and community outreach.
